Pile-up relaxation with cross-slip

Strengthening produced by obstacles to dislocation dynamics can be relaxed by cross-slip. For instence, a dislocation pile-up formed on a grain boundary in a thin foil is relaxed (screw dislocation can escape from their intial glide plane) with the help of cross-slip.
