Interactions of primary dislocations with secondary slip systems

Long primary dislocation segments (black lines) interact with a (green) forest of secondary segments. The latter are pinned at their ends and have a zero Schmid factor. They all belong to slip systems that form the same type of junction, here Lomer locks (short red lines).

A primary slip system (black lines) interacts with its cross-slip (colinear) slip system (immobile green lines). As the two slip systems have same Burgers vector, massive colinear annihilations occur leaving short segments on the two slip systems.
